Seven children were born to [George HOUFSTATER and Elizabeth BARRE] on the homestead [Niagara County, New York], namely: Almira, Mary, David, Matilda and Fidelia (twins), Jacob and Catherine; Lucy Ann, the eighth child, was born in Huron county, Ohio, October 15, 1836. In 1836 the family moved to Ohio, and settled on the farm which is now the property of Jacob P. HOUFSTATER, which territory was then a complete wilderness."

HOUFSTATER. — Esther SATTISON was born in Alleghan Co., Pa., July 1, 1827, and died at her home in Hastings, Mich., April 8, 1910. In 1847 she was united in marriage to D. B. HOUFSTATER. To this union were born eight children, six of whom with the aged husband and father are still living to mourn their loss. Seventeen years ago she and her husband accepted the Seventh-day Adventist faith and united with the church at Hastings, Mich., she remaining faithful till death. Words of comfort were spoken by the writer from 2 Tim. 4: 7, 8, a text of her own choosing.
